How We Practice Sustainability Every Day
Salons are traditionally heavy producers of single-use plastic and non-recyclable waste. We are changing that narrative through simple, impactful habits:
🧺 Washable, Sun-Dried Linen (No Single-Use Disposables)
Instead of relying on disposable paper towels and plastic capes that end up in landfills, we use high-quality, re-usable cloth towels and aprons. Every single piece is thoroughly washed, sanitized, and sun-dried daily—giving you that crisp, clean feeling the way nature intended.
🧼 Plastic-Free Shampoo Bars
We actively use and recommend solid shampoo bars as a high-performance alternative to traditional liquid shampoos. By helping our clients switch to shampoo bars, we prevent thousands of plastic bottles from entering landfills and oceans every year.
The Power of Small Actions: If we convince just one client to switch to a shampoo bar, that eliminates a minimum of 6 to 8 plastic bottles per year. Multiplied across our entire community, that is real, scalable impact.
Responsible Waste & Recycling Partnerships
We don't just throw everything into one big dustbin. We consciously segregate all our salon waste so it can be handled respectfully:
We have partnered with Eco Crew to ensure our recyclable salon materials—including paper, hard plastics, rubber, metal hair color tubes, and foil sheets—are collected monthly and processed safely.

All hair waste and organic materials are collected daily in strict accordance with BBMP eco-friendly waste management rules.

We have proudly tied up with The Cherian Foundation to facilitate hair donations for cancer warriors. Healthy, qualifying locks harvested during your haircut are sent directly to craft natural hair wigs for patients undergoing chemotherapy, restoring their confidence during their healing journey.
Whether you've been intentionally growing your hair out to donate or simply want a dramatic style refresh, we will bundle, cut, and handle your hair donation with the utmost care and respect.
What Happens to Non-Donatable Hair?
Not all hair meets the length or health requirements for wig making, but none of it goes to waste at Curl Up and Dye. We repurpose shorter hair bunches in-salon as educational tools. We use them for color tests, product efficacy trials, and training our team on different hair textures, patterns, and porosity levels.
