Grey Hair Blending.
Grey Blending is a service we are providing at CUAD for people that have been colouring their greys to cover them, or have not coloured but want to start with the intention of covering the greys.
The Problem with Traditional Grey Coverage
The classic method for covering greys involves a global color application (full hair, root to tip) followed by monthly or more frequent root touch-ups. This approach has significant drawbacks
Scalp Health Risk
Repeated chemical exposure directly on the scalp can risk your health, potentially increasing hair loss, increasing greys, or slowing down growth, especially when combined with hormonal imbalances or medication.
The Demarcation Line
Applying color directly to the scalp creates an "ugly demarcation line" as hair grows, leading to self-consciousness, insecurity, and the need for constant, repetitive touch-ups
Limited Style Options
Truly covering greys often requires dark base colors. If you desire dimension like balayage or highlights, this dark base must be bleached first to achieve lighter tones.
The CUAD Difference
How Grey Blending Works
The root of the problem is the high contrast between white/grey hair and your dark brown/black natural hair color. Traditional fixes darken the light hair; we do the opposite—we lighten the dark hair to minimize this contrast. We achieve this by applying highlights throughout the length of the hair.
Our non-traditional approach offers superior results and benefits
Protect Your Scalp
Chemicals do not touch your living scalp because highlights are worked into the hair strands, eliminating the risk to scalp health.
Seamless Grow-Out
Colour is painted onto the strand, creating seamless blends without a sharp demarcation line. This subtle blend means no obvious difference as your hair grows, reducing insecurity
Dimensional Colour
You can explore a variety of colors and shades to break the contrast. This approach means you don't need to color and coat your entire hair for future treatments.
More Time, Less Money
The seamless grow-out allows significantly more time between salon sessions, reducing the frequency of your visits and saving you time and money.
Age Gracefully
The result looks natural, doesn't look fake, and makes transitioning out or stopping the service easier.
Our Blending Techniques
We customize our technique based on the percentage of grey hair and your personal color preferences
Highlights (For 0-30% Greys)
We add lighter strands into your darker base to break the contrast.
Note: All your greys remain grey with this method, but they blend beautifully.
Lowlights (For <50% Greys)
We add darker strands into a lighter base to reduce the percentage of visible greys. Some greys are covered in the length, while others are retained for the blending effect.
Highlights and Lowlights (For 30-70% Greys)
This is used when you want a balance of dark base shades and lighter contrast. Some greys will be retained, some will be darkened, and some strands will be highlighted.
